Monumental plaster bust of 'Antinous'
Monumental old bust of 'Antinous', in Greek mythology Antinoüs (born c. 110, Bithynium, Bithynia—died 130, near Besa, Egypt) was the homosexual lover of the Roman emperor Hadrian, deified by the emperor after his death in Egypt, where he drowned.
This bust was made in the 1950' s at the academy of Hasselt, after several years the bust moved to a private mansion in Tongeren (Limburg region, Belgium).
The bust is handsculpted, you can see that clearly at the back of this artwork, the plaster is raw and thick layered there, you can see also the prints of the artist' s fingers. The original patina is untouched and very natural.
